The Costa del Sol Convention Bureau is a department of the Costa del Sol Tourist Board, specialising in the promotion and marketing of business tourism –meetings, conferences, and incentive trips– in the province of Málaga. It was created in 1993 with the aim of giving a boost to one of the most important travel segments in the province, which, together with golf, is one of the most important driving forces for off-peak travel on the Costa del Sol.
The Convention Bureau’s funds are mainly provided by the Provincial Government of Málaga. Its associate members, which make a really wide network, include four- and five-star hotels, luxury hotels, exhibition and conference centres, destination management companies, professional convention organisers and event planners, catering and conference service companies, coach companies, car-rentals, and many others.
The Costa del Sol Convention Bureau is close to its members, who make invaluable contributions to the action and marketing plan every year, stipulating the promotional activities to be carried out in both priority and secondary markets.
The Convention Bureau provides customers, companies, incentive travel agencies, corporate trip organisers, medical and other professional associations, and other organisations with the following services:
- Advice on the right settings/ venues to hold meetings or incentive trips.
- Information on regional infrastructure.
- Advice on social programmes for delegations.
- Contacts between members and with customers.
- Promotional material.
- Event publicity through the Communications Department.
- Agreements with transport companies, such as the operator of the high-speed train (AVE) or airline Iberia.
