REQUIREMENTS TO BE MET BY WOULD-BE MEMBERS OF THE COSTA DEL SOL CONVENTION BUREAU
1. All individuals and legal entities fulfilling the following requirements can ask for admission as members of the Costa del Sol Convention Bureau:
a) Having an occupation or running a business that is directly related to meeting, conference, or incentive trip planning.
b) Be legally constituted and headquartered in Málaga.
c) Having been working for at least 1 (one) year in Málaga in the occupation or business mentioned in the application form.
2. Travel agencies also have to comply with the following:
a) Having an incoming travel department providing services for meetings, conferences, or incentive trips; for instance, accommodation, tours, or pre-/post-conference trips.
b) Having provided services for at least 5 (five) international events involving the participation of at least 3 (three) different countries and a total of at least 400 (four hundred) attendees. These events have to be related to the above-mentioned activities and have lasted at least 3 (three) days.
3. Professional Conference Organisers (OPCs) also have to comply with the following:
a) Having been in charge of the organisation and management of at least 5 (five) three-day international events involving the participation of at least 3 (three) different countries and a total of at least 400 (four hundred) attendees.
b) Passing the inspection of one or more conferences or conventions.
4. Newly built hotels can become members as soon as they open, as long as they get a positive feedback from the Hotel Association of Málaga Province.
5. In the case of newly set-up companies, even those resulting from the merger or restructuring of previous Convention Bureau members, the Executive Committee shall authorise their admission and cancellation of the previous company/companies’ membership, or consider the whole operation as a change of name.
6. Individuals with widely acknowledged professional careers in the sector acting as their own companies can be admitted as Convention Bureau members one year after they start operating in this way. They shall be provisional members for a trial period of one year, until they are definitively accepted by the Executive Committee. During the trial period, they shall have the same rights as regular members, except for their inclusion in Convention Bureau publications.
7. Member companies shall notify the Convention Bureau of changes of ownership, so that the operation is authorised by the Executive Committee. New company owners shall submit all relevant documents.
8. The Convention Bureau reserves the right to ask for or get additional information, if relevant, upon admission request or change of ownership notification by member companies.
9. Convention Bureau memberships shall be approved by the Executive Committee and ratified by the relevant governing bodies of the Tourist Board.
