Almond Day
The region of Gualdahorce, and more specifically the town of Almogía, celebrates Almond Day on the last Sunday of September. In addition to raising general awareness about this product and its cultivation, other local products are promoted and a series of performances precede a tasting session that features traditional dishes such as chafaina (lamb stew), desserts made with almonds, muscatel wine, and many others.
Also present are performances by traditional bands of Verdiales (a local musical genre), animation workshops for the younger members of the family and demonstrations of traditional handcrafts such as saddlery and wickerwork as well as other trades relating to the almond.
