Easter Week in Malaga 2018: Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday is a very special day during the Easter celebrations in Málaga. Beginning very early in the morning, the people in Málaga head for the streets to assist in the disembarking of the legionaries that accompany Jesus Christ to the Good Death. The day ends at dawn, with the silence that accompanies Christ to the True Cross, the oldest of Holy Week in Malaga.

Eight brotherhoods will be on parade that day:

The Holy Cross: Leaving at 3:10pm from the Parish Church of 'San Felipe Neri' (Barrio de capuchinos; Molinillo).

Holy Supper: Leaving at 5:20pm from the Parish Church of 'Santos Mártires Ciriaco y Paula' (City centre).

Vineyards: Leaving at 5:15pm from the church 'Iglesia Conventual de las RR.MM'. Dominicas (City centre).

Mena: Leaving at 7:50pm from the Parish Church of 'Santo Domingo' (Perchel neighbourhood).

Mercy: Leaving at 8:35pm from the Parish Church of 'Nuestra señora del Carmen' (Perchel neighbourhood).

Zamarrilla: Leaving at 7:45pm from the chapel of 'Zamarrilla' (Trinidad neighbourhood; Perchel).

Hope: Leaving at 10:50pm from the Basilica of 'Menor del Paso y la Esperanza' (Perchel neighbourhood).

True Cross: Leaving at 11:55pm from the Parish Church of 'San Juan Bautista' (City centre).
