Iglesia de San Juan de Letrán
The San Juan de Letrán Church dates back to the 17th century. During these years it has witnessed the segregation of Ronda in 1630, which made it the central nucleus of Arriate. Since then it has undergone several restorations by renowned artists of the time. The carpentry works carried out on the Mudejar armour are attributed to Francisco Hernández and Andrés Valverde in the year 1629. The bell tower, which you can see from any point in the town, was built in parts since they did not have the financial resources to finish construction. They completed construction in 1965. During the Spanish Civil War, this Church suffered severe attacks and saw destruction on the main altar, the organ and the images taken on processions during Easter Week. All of these carvings were around 200 years old. After a second attack, the neighbours and devotees of this Church hid the image of Our Father Jesus of Nazareth, until it could be restored and placed back in the church.
