Beach bars or chiringuitos are the Costa del Sol's most typical establishments. They are one of the distinguishing features of the coast of Málaga province and an obligatory stop on your trip. Fried fish is the star of the show, but the traditional espeto de sardinas (sardines char-grilled on a cane skewer) also takes centre stage. This is a typical Costa del Sol delicacy, characterised by its curious preparation method.
The beaches of El Palo and Pedregalejo in Málaga capital are recommended for their beach bars. The Carihuela beach in Torremolinos, is another place to enjoy the very best fried fish right beside the sea.
