March 1966. Carmen Sotillo has just lost her husband Mario unexpectedly. Once the family and well-wishers have left, she spends the last night alone with his body and strikes up a monologue-dialogue through which we discover their personalities, their marital conflicts and through which the eternal themes of human existence are explored: guilt, loneliness and poor communication... the meaning of life.

This character was first played by Lola Herrera in 1979 when she was 44 years old and she has been linked to it throughout her life, not just professionally, playing her for 10 years and turning this into one of the most successful plays in the history of Spanish theatre. In 2001, she brought her back to life at 66 years of age, with the same if not more success. In 2018, and at the age of 82, she portrayed her once more on the stage. Now at 83 she is returning to the Cervantes Theatre for her final tour as Menchu Sotillo.
