Why learn Spanish?

Spanish is the third most widely spoken language on the planet. It's the official language of 21 countries and is spoken by more than 400 million people worldwide. Learning Spanish will therefore open the door to new professional opportunities.

If you love to travel and experience complete linguistic immersion, you'll get so much more out of your time abroad, in Spain or other countries, if you can speak Spanish. Literature, cinema and culture are yet more reasons to learn and discover the language of Cervantes.

Study Spanish on the Costa del Sol

Spanish is the second most studied language in the world and the Costa del Sol boasts a long history of Spanish language teaching. The Cervantes Institute is the official body that promotes the teaching, study and use of Spanish throughout the world. Many of the Costa del Sol's language schools are part of its Network of Associated Centres, in particular those located in Málaga, Marbella and Benalmádena.

Málaga University offers more than 60 degree qualifications, official masters and doctoral programmes. It also boasts exchange programmes like the Erasmus scheme and the University's General Foundation (FGUMA) delivers courses in more than 10 languages.

It's not just about studying Spanish – your time on the Costa del Sol will give you a real taste of Spanish life and culture and the opportunity for numerous unforgettable experiences. You can travel around the province to discover the villages, culture and cuisine, your diary will be full of exciting events and you'll enjoy spending time on the beach and year-round sunshine.
