Church of Santa Catalina

The iglesia parroquial de Santa Catalina (Santa Catalina parish church) offers itself to the visitor as the most outstanding building in Arenas. It was built in the Mudéjar style in the sixteenth century over a former mosque. It had to be repaired in 1927 because of a fire, but fortunately its main structural features were not affected, as was the case with the minaret of the former mosque. In the nineteen forties it also underwent a restoration.
