Convento-Ermita Nuestra Sra. de las Nieves
The shrine is on the viewpoint at the entrance to the town of Torrox. Historically, it was a place of worship and adoration for the locals. The convent was entrusted to the Order of San Francisco, a congregation of Italian origin, which is why the hermitage began to be called “Convent Torroxensis Madonna della Neve”. However, in 1844 the property was acquired by D. Gabriel García who resold it to use it as a warehouse. Currently, the City Council has restored the facilities enabling the space for cultural events. The Hermitage of Our Lady of the Snow is still a place of pilgrimage. The festival is celebrated together with San Roque, the patron saint of Torrox, on August 5. This place of historical and cultural interest from where you can see the incredible landscape of the Costa del Sol!
