The Russian Museum Collection of Malaga
St. Petersburg's State Russian Museum houses the greatest collection of Russian art in the world with more than 400,000 works. Its branch in Malaga has become one of the benchmark centres of Russian culture in Western Europe. It is located in the old tobacco factory known as the Tabacalera, a building from the 1920s that has been renovated and converted into a cultural and exhibition space.
The Russian Museum Collection of Malaga Collection is hosting a long-term exhibition renewed annually, as well as temporary exhibits. Different periods, trends and genres in Russian art can be appreciated through scenes of daily life, landscapes and historical canvases.
The centre also features projection rooms, an auditorium, a lecture hall with reference books and a Virtual Museum room which is connected to more than 100 locations around the world. In addition, it offers an extensive programme of activities, conferences, film projections and children's workshops through which to discover Russian art.
