European Poster Exhibition, 1888-1938

This exhibition shows a careful selection of over 180 works by about 90 artists from the most important periods in poster history, from the beginnings in the late nineteenth century (Jules Chéret, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec to Art Nouveau and the early advertising campaigns (Michelin, Anís del Mono) to the Interbellum and the rise of the avant-gardes, and the associated advertising that led to the development of modern posters. The most characteristic works from the first three decades of the twentieth century are here on display, fundamental to any serious approach to the history of what we today understand as posters.
