Exhibition "Darío de Regoyos: The Impressionist Adventure"

Share

The Carmen Thyssen Museum in Malaga presents a new exhibition devoted to the Asturian painter, Darío de Regoyos, to mark the centenary of his death, entitled "Darío de Regoyos: The Impressionist Adventure".

The exhibition, organised by the Museum of Fine Arts in Bilbao, will feature oil paintings, pastels, watercolours, drawings and engravings, which will give an insight into the artist"s forms of expression, interests and aesthetic development.

Regoyos" painting had two stages. A first period featured portraits and landscapes and interest in the effects of light. It was followed by what Regoyos called the "La España Negra" (The Black Spain) series, which was more philosophical and symbolist. Another period marked by the use of the pointillist technique, which he learnt thanks to his friendship with painters Seurat, Signac and Pissarro. And finally, the style he is most well known for is impressionist, to which the exhibition pays particular attention.
