Los Arqueros Golf, a challenging 18 hole, par 71, inaugurated in 1991, has been designed by a man who is not only one of the world’s top professional golfers, but also a native of the country, Spain’s Severiano Ballesteros. He has shared his knowledge and put his name into the creation of almost 30 golf courses throughout the world.
The design thinking behind Los Arqueros Golf was to lay out a course which closely followed the contours of the land and was in harmony with the natural setting. It is an idea, which Seve exploited to the maximum when designing the front and back nine holes, each with its own distinct personality. The result is a course which presents a challenge for the experienced golfer and is a real test of skills for beginners.
The course demands accurate play, especially on some of the tighter fairways where even big hitters may be advised to play a shorter iron or wood off the tee for greater precision.

Los Arqueros Golf (owned by Taylor Wimpey de España S.A.U.) is unique and its design is very different from the majority of courses on the Costa del Sol.
However Los Arqueros’ directors do not believe in standing still and in order to retain its excellent reputation, improvements to the course are always ongoing under the guidance of technical experts at the Seve Ballesteros organisation. Los Arqueros has been a pioneer in introducing a Management Systems, the proof is that since 2003 it has achieved the Management Environmental System Certificate (ISO 14.001), the first golf course on the Costa del Sol to obtain this certificate. In 2007, Los Arqueros obtained the Health and Safety Certificate based on the standard OHSAS 18.001 and in 2008, the Quality Model Management (UNE 188.001) specific for golf courses which has the support of the Tourism General Secretary. Therefore the customer service level is guaranteed, as well as the increasing clients´ satisfaction.

After the challenge of the course, the “nineteenth hole” at Los Arqueros is a welcome sight. The panoramic terrace is built into the hillside overlooking the first tee and the 18th green, and it is revitalising merely to have a drink in the breathtaking views to the horizon, which describe a perfect blue parabola where the sky meets the Mediterranean. As well as a bar and restaurant, there is a pro shop, gymnasium and sauna, squash, tennis and paddle tennis courts, putting and chipping greens, as well as a driving range. The club house is a meeting place for visiting golfers and country club residents of all nationalities who come not only to play golf but also to savour that special outdoor lifestyle, which is all about enjoying the sunshine and the country air over a chilled beer and a dish of paella perhaps, in congenial company.
 

Characteristics of the establishment

Los Arqueros is the first golf course on the Costa del Sol designed by Severiano Ballesteros in 1991 and located in Benahavís, only 5 Km. from San Pedro de Alcántara, on the Ronda road; also with access through Benahavís road.
In the last years all efforts have focused to obtain the environmental certificate (ISO 14.001), Health & Safety (OHSAS 18.001) and Quality (UNE 188.001), thus positioning Los Arqueros probably among the very few golf courses in Spain to have achieved it.
Los Arqueros, par 71 with total length of 5.679 m., offers an interesting round of golf suitable for low and high handicap players. Accuracy and direction rather than length are the key factors in producing a good round.
The topography of the course follows the natural contours with contrasting landscapes including three lakes and several streams which make each hole a different challenge. The excellent conditions of fairways and greens together with the enviable setting and magnificent views of the mountains and Mediterranean sea, makes a visit to los Arqueros an unforgettable experience
