Fiesta del Corpus Christi

Taking place this year on the 8 June, Fiesta del Corpus Christi is a meaningful day for the locals of Yunquera. The plazas and streets are decorated with shawls, arches made of plants and carpets covered with aromatic herbs like marjoram, thyme and rosemary. Religious images are placed amid much adornment throughout the town. As the procession makes its way through the streets, it stops at each of the images to pray. The boys and girls of Yunquera also play a key role in Corpus Christi, particularly those that are taking communion this year. The procession concludes that the main plaza where a large altar is set up. Come along to see this tradition.
