Carteles de la revolución (Posters of the revolution)

The exhibition “Carteles de la revolución” is a display of one of the most important artistic phenomena of revolutionary Russia. With a clear visual language consisting of striking and simple symbols to reach the masses, these posters contributed to the education of the new man.

The main symbols used in the posters of this period were the red flag (symbolizing the revolutionary struggle and the blood which was shed in the fight for freedom), the sun (illuminating a radiant future) and the chains (a vivid image of the oppression from which the victorious proletariat were able to break free).
