Blood Sausage Day in Canillas

"Blood Sausage Day" is a gourmet festival held in Canillas de Aceituno (Malaga). The star of the day is the local blood sausage, made with onion according to the traditional recipe from Canillas de Aceituno.
On the last Sunday of April, at the same time as the festivities of the Virgen de la Cabeza (the village's patron saint), thousands of people meet in the centre of the village. Next to the Town Hall and the Church, the local give out a delicious blood sausage to visitors (prepared Alpujarra style), accompanied by beer and wine from the region.
A festival that highlights the excellence of the cuisine from Axarquía, which includes vegetables - especially subtropical produce - to fish, which is caught in Caleta de Vélez, and its extraordinary meat.
The 1st Blood Sausage Day was held on this same date in 1987.
