‘Marisol: the radiance of the myth’
- 26 Apr 2018 - 31 May 2018
This exhibition includes a series of photographs by César Lucas, the Spanish photograph to have taken most photographs of Josefa Flores González, whose stage name was Marisol, during a large part of her acting and singing career. Pepa Flores began her career as a child prodigy in around 1959 and ended it in 1985 after starring in the film Caso Cerrado by Juan Caño, in which she shared the stage with another, then very young local from Malaga, Antonio Banderas.
She was discovered by the film producer Manuel Goyanes after seeing her act and sing in a Song and Dance group. In 1960, following the success of her first film Un rayo de luz directed by Luis Lucia Mingarro, who was to direct her in more films during her time as a child star, she received the award as the best child actress at the Biennale di Venezia. After starring in many more films, television programmes, she recorded albums (she represented Spain at the OTI Festival in 1972 with the song Niña by Manuel Alejandro) and started her international career.
