La Canción del Olvido (The Song of Forgetting)

At the beginning of the 20th century, zarzuela (Spanish light opera) moved away from works of popular taste in favour of more sophisticated styles such as the operetta and its variations. This can be seen in “La Canción del Olvido”.Its simple plot is accompanied by enchanting musical moments, “Junto al Puente de la Peña” (Next to the Peña Bridge), “Mujer primorosa clavellina” (Lady, exquisite carnation), “Marinela, Marinela”, “Canta el trovador” (The troubadour sings) and “Soldado de Nápoles” (Soldier of Naples).
