P12. E. Lalo. G. Gershwin y A. Márquez
Edouard Lalo"s "Spanish Symphony" is one of the most famous pieces for violin in this concert"s repertoire. Written in 1873, it was dedicated to Pablo Sarasate, who premiered it in Paris two years later. The five movements give it the character of a symphonic suite of exotic airs and motifs of Spanish origin. Also to be performed is the symphonic poem "An American in Paris", composed in 1928. This is one of the works that brought George Gershwin the most fame. Another of the performances to be enjoyed is "Danzón No. 2" (Dance No. 2) by A. Márquez, supported by an excellent orchestration and expressed with suggestive rhythm throughout.
