Lux Oleum Exhibit
- 1 Jul 2020 - 31 Oct 2020 Tuesday-Sunday from 9:00-14:00
We tend to associate olive oil with gastronomy, especially Mediterranean cuisine, but Lux Oleum has the mission of showing us that "liquid gold" is much more than food and was the main element for lighting from prehistoric times to the twentieth century.
This collection of 67 different pieces, among which it is worth mentioning the oil lamp that holds the "Efebo de Antequera", a bronze sculpture of almost a metre-and-a-half that occupies one of the rooms baptised as La otra mirada del Efebo (The other side of the Efebo).
Although the one mentioned above is the most emblematic, the oldest is a concave stalagmite from the Upper Paleolithic used in the Ardales Cave as a light source.
