The preserved works of Nicolas Staël, one of the most outstanding painters of the 20th century, arrived at the Centre Pompidou in Malaga for the first time are now on display until 8 November. You can see a reference work in terms of abstract art, combining harsh tones with the introduction of light and colours in his latest compositions. Through this abstraction, Staël sought the truth and the absolute in representation, for him, of art, poetry and music.
Nicolas Staël was born in Russia in 1914, trained in Belgium, and finally settled in France, where he exhibited his work for the first time in Paris in 1944.
