If you are driving around Málaga or any of the Costa del Sol towns, you are advised to obtain information in advance about the different types of public car parking available. Everything you need to know is explained below:
Car parking in Málaga capital
Málaga has various parking options, although how easy it is to find a space can depend on the time of day.
There is controlled parking available on public roads, also known as zona azul [blue zone], above all in Málaga's old town. Hours are usually from 09:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 20:00 on weekdays, and 9:00 to 14:00 on Saturdays. You need to be aware that parking zones indicated with a white line are free and can be used by anyone, whereas a green line signifies resident-only parking.
There are more than 6,300 spaces available in public car parks, which makes parking easy. The main public car parks in the centre are Alcazaba, Plaza de la Marina, Andalucía, Salitre, Tejón y Rodríguez, and Calle Camas.
A good alternative is to leave your car in one of the shopping centres close to the town centre. El Corte Inglés, Málaga Plaza, María Zambrano and the Larios Shopping Centre are the nearest. These centres also offer a wide range of leisure activities, shops and restaurants.
Parking in the towns in Málaga province
The availability of public car parks in the different towns on the Costa del Sol depends on the popularity of the area. The busiest locations have the option of zona azul [blue zone] parking, as in Málaga. However, there is an extensive network of public car parks, where you can park without any problems.
You are advised to read this page carefully so you know where you can park your vehicle when travelling around.
