Paraje Natural Sierra Crestellina

Paraje Natural Sierra Crestellina

Share

Sierra Crestellina is located in the municipality of Casares and was listed as a Protected Natural Area in 1989.

The mountainscape is one of the southernmost peaks in Sierra de Ronda and has given a great deal of natural wealth to human beings, used since Neolithic times for hunting, shepherding and agriculture (on the foothills).

The vegetation in the mountain is varied and linked to the levels of sunlight and humidity it receives. You will see holm oaks, pine trees, Aleppo pines, Portuguese oaks and cork oak woods, among others. In terms of wildlife, you may just be lucky enough to spot mountain goats, small amphibians and at least 115 species of vertebrates. There is also a large colony of birds, the largest group of animals to call the area home.
