Museo Real Maestranza de Caballería de Ronda

Share

History, culture and heritage come together at Museo taurino de la Real Maestranza de Caballería in Ronda. The museum was founded in the 16th century by the Brotherhood of Caballeros to provide information about the art of bullfighting and the evolution of the institution and the Brotherhood, as well as give visibility to Ronda. The bullring is one of the most visited sites in the town. It was opened in 1785 and has been declared a Site of Cultural Interest. Under the seats of the ring, you can find different rooms concerning the history of Real Maestranza, Museo de Tauromaquia and the royal leathers of the House of Orleans, a true masterpiece. The exhibition area houses over 2,000 pieces of documentary, historic and artistic works concerning horse riding. You can also see Goya’s paintings on bullfighting, as well as many other works from around the world. The ring also houses the equestrian school of Real Maestranza de Caballería, the oldest and most prestigious in Spain. All this heritage is located between Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Merced de Ronda and Puente Nuevo Ronda, on Calle Virgen de la Paz, 15.
