Joaquín Peinado Museum
Located in the heart of the historic centre of the ancient city of Ronda, the Unicaja Ronda Foundation’s Joaquín Peinado museum offers visitors the chance to gain an insight into the life and work of one of the most important Spanish painters of the 20th Century, a friend of Picasso, Juan Gris, Bores and Viñes and a member of the ‘Paris School’. Its premises, located in the old and iconic Palacio del Marqués de Moctezuma (heir of the last free Aztec emperor Moctezuma II) and widely known by experts, constitute a historic building that is perfectly adapted to its role as a museum. The site includes two beautiful porticoed courtyards with a classical flavour, wonderful examples of 16th-Century Mudejar roofing, 18th-Century ironwork, an emblazoned main door from the same period and a peaceful neo-gothic chapel built in 1902.
