Church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario
The Archbishop of Seville, Diego de Deza, under the auspices of the Catholic Monarchs, ordered the construction of the church in the sixteenth century over a former mosque. Its architecture is considered among the most original in La Axarquía for the mixture of late Gothic and Renaissance styles, to which are added Mudéjar (the wood-framed roofs) and baroque elements (the “camarines” and the sturdy two-level exterior tower covered by a glazed ceramic roof).
