Día de Jeva

Every morning on the 25th of December, the inhabitants of the villages of Antequera, as well as the people of Antequera, gather at the hermitage of Jeva in the south of the Natural Park "El Torcal" to venerate the Virgen de la Purificación (Virgin of the Purification). The Día de Jeva begins with the ringing of bells which gives way to the traditional "choque de pandas" of verdiales, followed by a tasting of homemade mantecados accompanied by coffee, shots of aguardiente and buñuelos (fritters). There will also be musical performances until the moment when the Virgin is carried in procession to the threshing floor, where a mass is celebrated. Come and discover this most welcoming tradition.
