On the 25 March, Villanueva del Rosario is hosting Día de la Tagarnina which celebrates the tasty edible thistle. This typical vegetable is incredibly versatile: you can find it in stews, salads and scrambled eggs. It grows in the wild and has an exquisite flavour. Thistle stew takes centre stage at this event, with free tastings, as well as hiking activities, and the popular running race 'Subida a Hondonero'. There’ll also be live music by local bands, activities for the kids, and stalls selling typical artisanal products you can take home.
