Día de los Polvos en Tolox

Día de los Polvos is always a whole lot of fun in Tolox. For one day only, the locals throw talcum powder at each other and end up covered in the stuff. The festival seems to date back to the 19th century when the young men of the destination resorted to the act to declare their love for the woman they were pursuing. The young women avoided stepping out onto the street for the day and the young men would try to get them to come out to cover them in flour. Talcum powder is now used instead of flour and the romantic component has completely disappeared. Everybody is invited to Tolox on this day to throw talc at each other. The more the merrier!
