Our Lady of El Carmen Procession
Every year, in the context of St James and St Anne's Festival, a procession is organised to honour Our Lady of El Carmen. It is a deeply-rooted tradition among fishermen.
Men and women wearing grey costumes carry the statue of Virgin Mary to the beach, where She goes on board to sail along the coast, escorted by bedecked fishing boats. Popular wisdom has it that you should not go swimming until the water is blessed by Our Lady of El Carmen.
