Castillo del Águila

Castillo del Águila

Share

Águila castle has three distinct areas: the first housed the population and their cattle; the second was used for stonework; and the third was a citadel.

The castle sits atop limestone and is composed of different walled areas that are connected by two brick arches with arrow slits on the side. There are wells and an underground escape tunnel.

Nowadays, you can still see the wall, the keep and the escape tunnel. The castle is home to Santo Niño chapel and is also a great place for watching birds of prey, giving the castle its name (águila means eagle).
