The Mercado Central de Atarazanas
Málaga’s municipal market is the Mercado Central de Ataranzas. The building, constructed between 1876 and 1879 on the site of a 15th century Nasrid port, is an example of the city’s 19th-century architecture. Today, the only remnant of the old shipyard is the enclosure’s old monumental gate.
The market’s stalls sell anything from meat, fish (the market’s speciality) and vegetables to ready-to-eat tapas and pescaíto frito (fried fish). It’s an authentic experience for all your senses.
