Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Vélez-Málaga Francisco Hernández was the first art gallery dedicated to contemporary creations in Andalusia outside of the capital of the province, Malaga. The gallery is housed in an elegant building on calle Félix Lomas which was the home of Nuestra Señora de la Presentación school in the early 20th century, before it became a residential and shopping street. CAC opened on the 13 September 2013 with an exhibition of the works of Francisco Hernández, the artist that gives his name to the gallery. The 2,400m2 gallery extends over three floors and a basement, where you can visit six exhibition rooms, various spaces for reading activities, workshops and lunches, as well as an events room.
