In 2000, the founder of Bodega Kieninger, Martin Kieninger, a wine producer and architect from Austria, planted 4,000 varietals from his homeland. The vineyards sit on the foothills of Sierra de las Cumbres at 750m altitude and are currently home to many different types of grapes, including the French varieties Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Fran and Pinot Noir, Austrian varietals such as Blaufraekish and Zweigelt, and Spanish grapes like Garnacha Tinta and Tintilla de Rota. The wine is produced using traditional and sustainable techniques, seeking to showcase and respect the environment. The process is certified by the committee specialising in sustainable production, CAAE. The wines produced here are high quality and balanced vintages, achieved through the varietal and maturation in wooden barrels. You can take a guided tour of the vineyards, production rooms, maturation rooms and even enjoy tasting sessions featuring other local produce.
