Fairs

Every village in the Copper Forest has its own typical festivals related to its particular history, traditions and cuisine. It’s well worth visiting them during any one of these festivals as you will be able learn more about the customs and people in a different way. Throughout autumn, some of the villages in the Copper Forest hold chestnut festivals, chestnuts being their most treasured culinary gems. Pujerra and Yunquera host festivals that have been declared Provincial Tourist Attractions.

In Pujerra, you can taste over 50 dishes made with chestnuts throughout the day, and you can also visit the Chestnut Museum, which houses a permanent exhibition showcasing the tools, equipment and clothes used to gather chestnuts, as well as a number of photographs and posters. Another village that pays its own homage to the chestnut is Yunquera, whose residents celebrate the Chestnut and Wine Festival all weekend.
