The idea for building the Benalmádena initially received some disbelief due to the innovation and greatness of the plan. But the town pushed to overcome the obstacles it faces, and little by little, not without a few alterations, it is today one of the most attractive sports, leisure and recreation environments on the entire Mediterranean coast.

Since, it earned the Best Marina in the World award, an award that specialised international magazines give out, in 1995 and 1997.
