El Playazo beach is located at the western end of Nerja and is the largest beach of the Malaga municipality. It is located on the outskirts of the city, a fact that ensures a lower influx of visitors and less movement. Due to its size, there is plenty of space for all, even in high season.
It is a large area with a natural unsophisticated appearance, dotted with small farms and sugar cane plantations. With a background of hills that give it a particular charm, it is one of the most popular beaches, and which many national tourists visit.
Its outstanding feature is the night of the celebration of San Juan jointly with Playa de Burriana, the night between 23 and 24 June. In these locations large numbers of neighbours of the Malaga municipality will congregate to celebrate this magical night with a popular outdoor dance and a municipal bonfire.
