Antequera Dolmens Site

Antequera Dolmens Site

Share

The Antequera Dolmens Site is an example of European megalithic art that stands out for its monumental status and singular direction.

The importance of the series of monuments made it declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2016 due to its status as one of the most notable prehistoric archaeological sites in Europe.

The complex contains three megalithic monuments: the Menga and Viera dolmens and the Tholos of the Romeral. The Menga dolmen stands out due to it being about 6,000 years old, as it wakes up every day looking out at the Peña de los Enamorados natural formation.

Along with the El Torcal and La Peña de los Enamorados natural formations, the three Antequera Dolmens are the monuments on the property.
