Málaga Roman Theatre
The Roman Theatre of Malaga - located in the centre of the city - is the most important trace that remains from the Roman era of this town. Built in the 1st century AD on the structure of ancient baths, it preserves a good part of the stands, the orchestra and the stage, some of the columns and sculptures.
This building, however, remained hidden for many centuries by streets and houses and. The Casa de la Cultura built was built in 1940. In 1951 they rediscovered the first vestiges of this theatre when they were carrying out work. Excavations started and culminated in the 1990s with the demolition of the Cultura building restoring the value of this archaeological site.
