The State Russian Museum, Málaga
This museum has turned into a referential centre for Russian culture abroad. The St. Petersburg State Museum houses the world’s most extensive collection of Russian collection in the world inside the museum’s walls with more than 400,000 works.
The museum is in the old Tabacalera building which is the probably the best example of the region’s architectural style and has witnessed the works from great Russian artists from all eras. They include artist like Chagall, Malevich, Kandinsky, Filonov or Goncharova along with avant-garde painters, Repin, Korovin, Levitan or Serov among the less-renowned but beautiful 19th-century Russian art scene.
Exhibits like The Romanov Dynasty or Radiant Future (about Socialist Realism) have allowed visitors to step inside Russian history and culture. The museum also has projection rooms, an auditorium, a lecture hall with reference books and a branch of the Virtual Museum that connects to more than 100 places around the world. It also offers a comprehensive programme of activities, conferences, film screenings and children’s workshops to help people discover Russian art.
