Malaga’s La Termica Cultural Centre is hosting the exhibition “The Beatles vs. The Rolling Stones”, a photographic exhibition of images taken by British photographers Terry O’Neill and Gered Mankowitz, both considered to be great contemporary photographers, who experienced the early years of the two iconic groups.
O’Neill was the first to photograph the Beatles and the Rolling Stones at the start of their musical careers and the first to publish the images in the press. Gered Mankowitz is one of the most famous photographers in the history of rock and roll. He contributed to the creation of the Stones’ image with the photograph of Richards, Jones, Wyman and Watts on the cover of the iconic album Between the Buttons.
During the exhibition, there will also be a daily screening of the video documentary “Eight Days a Week”, a work by Ron Howard which was nominated for, and awarded, several prizes this year (Grammy, BAFTA, Satellite Awards etc). The film covers the Beatles’ early years from the iconic Cavern Club in Liverpool to the 1966 performance in San Francisco.
