Solheim Cup 2023

Solheim Cup 2023

    All day
  • 22 Sep 2023 - 24 Sep 2023

The Solheim Cup in the Costa del Sol.

Good things come to those who wait. The Solheim Cup held at Finca Cortesín is just around the corner, and the Costa del Sol is proud to be Spain’s first ever host for this world famous tournament. Just a few months left before the Costa del Sol flaunts its best galas in Casares. The most important women’s competition in the golf world is here - Europe and the US go head to head with the 12 best golfers from each country battling it out.

The captain of the European team, from Norway, holds the Costa del Sol close to her heart as she has spent long periods of time here in her Marbella house. Champion Suzann Pettersen will be in charge of leading the European team. American captain Stacy Lewis has visited Finca Cortesín before, appreciating the bermuda greens and claiming they were the best she’d ever played on.

The teams are taking shape. Swedish golfers Linn Grant and Maja Stark, stars of the Race To Costa del Sol 2022 final, are an exciting highlight. As for those world ranking positions, they continue to be held by Irish Leona Maguire, French Celine Boutier, and Charley Hull from England. Carlota Ciganda from Navarra has her eyes on both rankings - we hope she makes the team.

With the US team, the Korda sisters stand out, dominating the qualification rankings.

The Solheim Cup will also have a very special guest gracing us with her presence. Her Majesty Queen Letizia has accepted the Presidency of Honour for the Solheim Cup 2023. This unconditional support from the Royal House shows the Royal family’s commitment to women’s sport and golf as a means of expressing great values, as well as elevating the Solheim Cup 2023 to new heights. Excitingly, it also happens to be the very first women’s golf event considered to be of exceptional public interest, an honour that places this competition alongside events of an international scale.

The magnitude of this event has no parallel in the Costa del Sol nor beyond. Malagueños of international fame like Antonio Banderas, proudly outspoken about their roots in the region, have keenly participated in golf tournaments with great support for women’s golf, and are acutely aware of the importance of the Solheim for Malaga-Costa del Sol as the chosen destination.

Sport, especially golf, is an activity that promotes great values for youngsters that take part. The PING Junior Solheim Cup, which takes place on the 18 and 19 September at La Zagaleta in Benahavís, is the perfect precursor to the ‘big week’ that follows, and you’ll see the best junior players on the national golf scene showcase their skills.

Until the big day in September, the Solheim Cup trophy will travel around Andalusia, visiting cities and important sites so that everyone, golfers and non-golfers alike, can be part of this historic competition.

The Solheim Cup is going to be very special for a number of reasons, and the Malaga coast waits with open arms for the thousands of visitors that will come to enjoy this great occasion from the 22 to 24 September. On the first and second day four, foursomes will be played in the morning, and four fourballs in the afternoon. Finally, on the last day, there’ll be 12 decisive singles. It’s going to be a week full of surprises.

Get your ticket now to make sure you don’t miss the Solheim Cup. The Costa del Sol awaits and is closer now than ever before.
