The Rebirth of the Jábega
Jábegas are a living testament having survived the passage of centuries for 3,000 years to become an emblem of Malaga. These rowboats conceived for fishing usually measure 10 metres in length and two metres in width. If you would like to know more about the tradition, don't miss the exhibition "El Renacer de la Jábega" (The Rebirth of the Jábega).
A photography exhibition, commissioned by Eduardo D´Acosta which from 5 to 30 December will take you deep into the culture around the jábega. Thirty works by photographers Juan A. Isla and José Cano will show you the magic of the jábega, a vessel that symbolises the strong link of a town with its history and the singularity of the Mediterranean character. The photograph Mirando al Futuro (Looking at the Future) is the cover of the exhibition.
