Feria del Carmen of Fuengirola

The festivities in honour of Our Lady the Virgen del Carmen, Patron Saint of Los Boliches, are based on a strong maritime tradition and on the devotion expressed by the inhabitants of this traditional neighbourhood of Fuengirola.

The main activities take place at the fairground and on Los Boliches beach, a unique setting for the procession of the Virgin in Mediterranean waters.

The 16th of July is the most important day, because the procession of the Virgen del Carmen takes place. The statue leaves the parish church of Santa Fe de Los Boliches and is held aloft in a procession through the streets until she reaches the beach at around 10pm, where she is carried into the sea on the shoulders of her seamen all along the Fuengirola coastline. The process is accompanied by an enormous fireworks display.
